[edit]From Proto-Indo-Aryan *bárźʰiṣṭʰas, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *bʰárȷ́ʰištʰas, from Proto-Indo-European *bʰerǵʰ-. Cognate with Avestan 𐬠𐬀𐬭𐬆𐬰𐬌𐬱𐬙𐬀 (barəzišta), Middle Persian [script needed] (bʾlyst' /bālišt/).
