[edit]Formed by the unetymological retroflexion of the /r/ in बछेरा (bacherā), possibly through the influence of बछड़ा (bachṛā).
Alternatively, simplified from an earlier *bacherṛā,[1] inherited from Prakrit 𑀯𑀘𑁆𑀙𑀬𑀭 (vacchayara) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀟- (-ḍa-) + -𑀓- (-ka-).
