[edit]Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘣𑘯𑘜𑘹 (phaḷaṇe), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀨𑀮𑀇 (phalaï), from Sanskrit फलति (phalati). Related to फळ (phaḷ, “fruit”). Cognate with Gujarati ફળવું (phaḷvũ), Hindi फलना (phalnā), Sindhi ڦَرَڻُ / फरणु, Punjabi ਫਲਣਾ (phalṇā) / پھلنا (phlnā) , Nepali फल्नु (phalnu), Bengali ফলা (phola).
