Etymology

    Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit *𑀧𑀼𑀮𑀸𑀕 (*pulāga), from Sanskrit पुलाक (pulāka), probably derived from Dravidian; compare Tamil புறுக்கல் (puṟukkal, cooked rice). Cognate with Gujarati પુલાવ (pulāv) and Punjabi ਪੁਲਾਉ (pulāu).
