[edit]Inherited from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀧𑀻𑀲𑀇 (pīsaï), 𑀧𑀺𑀲𑀇 (pisaï), from Sanskrit पिनष्टि (pinaṣṭi, “to grind”) (compare पिंषति (piṃṣati)). Compare Gujarati પીસવું (pīsvũ), Hindustani پِیسْنَا (pīsnā) / पीसना (pīsnā), Sindhi پيِهَڻُ / पीहणु, Punjabi ਪੀਹਣਾ (pīhṇā) / پِیہْݨا (pīhṇā), Nepali पिस्नु (pisnu), Maithili पिसब (pisab) / 𑒣𑒱𑒮𑒥 (pisaba), Bengali পিষা (piśa), Assamese পিহা (piha), Phalura píiṣa / پِیݜہ.
