[edit]Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘢𑘰𑘮𑘳𑘜𑘰 (pāhuṇā), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀧𑀳𑀼𑀡 (pahuṇa), 𑀧𑀸𑀳𑀼𑀡 (pāhuṇa), from Sanskrit प्राहुण (prāhuṇa) (compare प्राघुण (prāghuṇa), प्राघुर्ण (prāghurṇa)). Cognate with Gujarati પરોણો (paroṇo), Hindi पाहुन (pāhun), पाहुना (pāhunā), Punjabi ਪਰਾਹੁਣਾ (parāhuṇā), Nepali पाहुना (pāhunā), Odia ପହନା (pahanā).
