[edit]Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘢𑘰𑘨𑘏𑘜𑘹 (pārakhaṇe), 𑘢𑘰𑘨𑘳𑘏𑘜𑘹 (pārukhaṇe), ultimately from Sanskrit परीक्षते (párīkṣate). Related to पारख (pārakh), परीस (parīs, “touchstone”). Compare Gujarati પરખવું (parakhvũ), Hindustani پَرَکْھنَا (parakhnā) / परखना (parakhnā), Sindhi پَرْکَڻُ / पर्खणु, Punjabi ਪਰਖਣਾ (parkhaṇā) / پَرکھݨا (parkhṇā), Odia ପରିଖିବା (parikhibā), ପରଖିବା (parakhibā).
