[edit]From Maharastri Prakrit 𑀧𑀧𑁆𑀧𑀟 (pappaḍa), from Sanskrit पर्पट (parpaṭa). Compare Old Marathi 𑘢𑘿𑘨𑘢𑘘 (prapaṭa). Cognate with Gujarati પાપડ (pāpaḍ), Hindi पापड़ (pāpaṛ), Sindhi پَاپَڙُ / पापड़ु (pāpaṛu), Punjabi ਪਾਪੜ (pāpaṛ).
