[edit]Inherited from Old Marathi पाठविणे (pāṭhaviṇe), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀧𑀝𑁆𑀞𑀸𑀯𑁂𑀇 (paṭṭhāvei), 𑀧𑀝𑁆𑀞𑀯𑀇 (paṭṭhavaï), from Sanskrit प्रस्थापयति (prásthāpayati). Cognate to Gujarati પાઠવવું (pāṭhavvũ), Hindi पठाना (paṭhānā), Sindhi پَٺَڻُ / पठणु (paṭhaṇu) Odia ପଠାଇବ (paṭhāiba), Bengali পাঠা (paṭha), Assamese পঠোৱা (pothüa), Sinhalese පටවනවා (paṭawanawā).
