[edit]Inherited from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀡𑀺𑀩𑀁𑀥𑀇 (ṇibaṃdhaï) (compare 𑀩𑀁𑀥𑀇 (baṃdhaï), Pali nibandhati), from Proto-Indo-Aryan *nibandʰati[1] (compare Sanskrit निबध्नाति (níbadhnāti)). Related to नोंद (nonda), नोंदणी (nondṇī). Cognate with Gujarati નોંધવું (nondhvũ), Sindhi نُوندَڻُ / नूंदणु (nūndaṇu), نُونڌَڻُ / नूंधणु (nūndhaṇu).
