Inherited from Prakrit 𑀤𑀼𑀤𑁆𑀥𑀺𑀅 n (duddhia), from Sanskrit दुग्धिका (dugdhikā) (not attested outside of lexicographer's lists), from दुग्ध (dugdhá, milk) +‎ -इका (-ikā). Related to दुध्या (dudhyā), Old Marathi 𑘟𑘳𑘠𑘲𑘧𑘰 (dudhīyā). Compare Gujarati દૂધી (dūdhī), Hindustani دُدِّھی (duddhī) / दुद्धी (duddhī), دُودِھی (dūdhī) / दूधी (dūdhī), Punjabi ਦੁੱਧੀ (duddhī), Odia ଦୁଧିଆ (dudhiā).
