Etymology

Borrowed from Turkish Türkiye, possibly through English. First adopted in 2020 by the Turkish Exporters Assembly and then by the Turkish government in December 2021 to replace the exonyms of Turkey in other languages.[1] In June 2022, the United Nations accepted the country's request to change its official name there in the UN languages.[2]
