[edit]Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘘𑘰𑘯𑘲 (ṭāḷī), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀢𑀸𑀮 m (tāla), from Sanskrit ताड m (tā́ḍa), तालिका f (tālikā) [1].[2] Cognate with Gujarati તાળી (tāḷī), Hindustani تَالِی (tālī) / ताली (tālī), Sindhi تَاڙيِ / ताड़ी, Punjabi ਤਾੜੀ (tāṛī) / تاڑی (tāṛī).
