Etymology
[edit]Probably a Kulturwort from a western language. The presence of a "borax" meaning on the phonetically similar रङ्ग (raṅga, “color, paint”) suggests "a source language that was neither Dravidian nor (probably) Munda". Related to टगर (ṭagara, “borax”).
