[edit]Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘕𑘰𑘜𑘲𑘪𑘹𑘽 (jāṇīveṃ), 𑘕𑘰𑘡𑘲𑘪𑘹𑘽 (jānīveṃ), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀚𑀡𑁆𑀡𑁄𑀯𑀯𑀻𑀅 (jaṇṇovavīa), from Sanskrit यज्ञोपवीत (yajñopavītá). Cognate to Konkani जान्वें (zānvễ), Hindi जनेऊ (janeū).
