[edit]Borrowed from Classical Persian جَلَا وَطَن (jalā watan) / جَلَای وَطَن (jalā-i watan), from جَلَا (jalā, “exile”) + وَطَن (watan). The second part is the ancestor of वतन (vatan, “country”). See there for more.
