Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘓𑘛𑘜𑘹 (caḍhaṇe), 𑘓𑘚𑘜𑘹 (caḍaṇe), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀘𑀟𑀇 (caḍaï). Cognate with Konkani चड्चे (tsaḍce), Gujarati ચડવું (caḍvũ), Hindi चढ़ना (caṛhnā), Sindhi چَڙهَڻُ / चढ़णु (caṛhaṇu), Punjabi ਚੜ੍ਹਨਾ (caṛhnā) / چڑھنا (caṛhnā), Nepali चढ्नु (caḍhnu), Bengali চড়া (coṛa).
