Etymology

Inherited from Prakrit *𑀘𑀸𑀘𑁆𑀘 (*cācca), likely with the added genitive suffix -𑀓𑁂𑀭 (-kera) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀓- (-ka-)—the same suffix -एरा (-erā) as in मेरा (merā). Related to चाचा (cācā). Cognate with Punjabi ਚਚੇਰਾ (cacerā).
