Etymology

Semi-learned borrowing from Sanskrit चक्र (cakra). Doublet of चाक (cāk), चक्का (cakkā), चक्र (cakra), and चरख़ा (carxā). Cognate with Punjabi ਚੱਕਰ (cakkar), Bengali চক্কর (cokkor), Assamese চকৰ (sokor) and চকৰি (sokori), Sylheti ꠌꠇꠞ (soxor).
