[edit]Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit *𑀖𑀭𑀸𑀬𑀬𑀡 (*gharāyayaṇa) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀓- (-ka-) from Sanskrit *घरायतन (gharāyatana), from *घर (ghara) + आयतन (āyátana). Cognate with Hindustani घराना (gharānā) / گھرانا (gharānā) and Sindhi گھراڻو / घराणो (gharāṇo).
