Etymology

Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀕𑁄𑀯𑀸𑀮 (govāla), from Sanskrit गोपाल (gōpālá, cow-carer; name of Krishna). Cognate with Gujarati ગોવાળ (govāḷ).
