[edit]Inherited from Sanskrit ग्रथ्न (grathna) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀟- (-ḍa-) + -𑀓- (-ka-) (compare Prakrit 𑀕𑀝𑁆𑀞𑀺𑀆 (gaṭṭhiā)). Compare Hindustani گَٹْھرِی (gaṭhrī) / गठरी (gaṭhrī), Bundeli गठरी (gaṭhrī), Chhattisgarhi गठरी (gaṭhrī), Garhwali गठड़ि (gaṭhṛi), Nepali गठरी (gaṭharī).
