[edit]From Proto-Indo-Iranian *k⁽ʰ⁾arúš ~ *k⁽ʰ⁾arwás (“mutilated, damaged, maimed”);[1][2] compare Avestan 𐬐𐬀𐬎𐬭𐬎𐬎𐬀 (kauruua, “mutilated”). Also compare करूळतिन् (karūḷatin, “having damaged teeth”).
