[edit]From Proto-Indo-Iranian *kr̥nudʰí, which was formed from the verb *kr̥náwti (“to do, make”). Cognate with Avestan 𐬐𐬆𐬭𐬆𐬥𐬏𐬌𐬜𐬌 (kərənūiδi, 2nd person singular imperative of 𐬐𐬆𐬭𐬆𐬥𐬀𐬊𐬌𐬙𐬌 (kərənaoiti, “to do, make”)).
