Etymology
[edit]Borrowed from Classical Persian قَیْصَر (qaysar), from Arabic قَيْصَر (qayṣar), from Ancient Greek Καῖσαρ (Kaîsar), from Latin Caesar. In the sense of "Kaiser", probably influenced by Kaiser. Doublet of ज़ार (zār), सीज़र (sīzar), and काइज़र (kāizar).
