Etymology
[edit]Inherited from Proto-Indo-Iranian [Term?], from Proto-Indo-European *h₂éwg-mō. The palatalization of Indo-European *g is irregular, but explained as due to influence from related words ओजस् (ojas, “strength”) and ओजीयस् (ojīyas, “stronger”). Cognate with Latin augmen.
