From Proto-Indo-Iranian *Háwǰyas (stronger), from Proto-Indo-European *h₂éwg-yōs, comparative degree of *h₂ug-ró-s (strong). Cognate with Avestan 𐬀𐬊𐬘𐬌𐬌𐬀𐬵 (aojiiah).

      árhannidáṃ dayase víśvamábhvaṃ ná vā́ ójīyo rudra tvádasti.
