[edit]Inherited from Old Marathi उकणे (ukaṇe), from Middle Kannada. Compare Modern Kannada ಒಕ್ಕರಿಸುವುದು (okkarisuvudu, “to dry heave, gag, retch”). Compare Konkani ओक्चे (ōkce).
