[edit]Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀉𑀫𑁆𑀫𑀕𑁆𑀕 (ummagga, “emerged”), from Sanskrit *उन्मग्न (unmagna), from उद्- (ud-) + मग्न (magna, “immersed”), with the latter part from Proto-Indo-European *mesg-nós (“immersed”). Cognate with Pali ummagga (“emergence of desire for knowledge”).
