[edit]Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘄𑘕𑘱𑘊𑘚 (ujieḍa), 𑘄𑘕𑘱𑘧𑘚 (ujiyaḍa), 𑘄𑘕𑘱𑘧𑘹𑘚 (ujiyeḍa), 𑘄𑘕𑘱𑘪𑘚 (ujivaḍa), from Sanskrit उद्द्योत (uddyota, “flashing, shining”). Related to उजाडणे (ujāḍṇe). Compare Konkani उजो (uzō̂), Maharastri Prakrit 𑀉𑀚𑁆𑀚𑁄𑀅 (ujjoa).
