    Inherited from Prakrit 𑀅𑀁𑀕𑀭𑀓𑁆𑀔 (aṃgarakkha, literally protecting the body) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀓- (-ka-), from Sanskrit अङ्ग (aṅga, body, limb) +‎ रक्ष (rakṣa, protecting). Cognate with Hindi अँगरखा (aṅgarkhā), Gujarati અંગરખો (aṅgarkho), Odia ଅଙ୍ଗରଖା (aṅgarakhā), Bengali আংরাখা (aṅrakha).
