[edit]Calque of Arabic رَسْمِيّ (rasmiyy), from ܪܘܼܫܡܵܐ (rušmā, “mark, seal”) + -ܝܐ (-āyā, the attributive adjective ending); compare also Hebrew רִשְׁמִי (rishmí).
