From Aramaic ܩܲܡܝܼܨܬܵܐ (qamīṣtā), from Byzantine Greek καμίσιον (kamísion),[1] from Latin camisia, from Proto-Germanic *hamiþiją (clothes, shirt, skirt). Compare Turoyo ܩܡܶܣܬܐ (qmesto) and Arabic قَمِيص (qamīṣ).
