ܥܕܢܐ
Appearance
Assyrian Neo-Aramaic
[edit]Etymology
[edit]From Aramaic עֵדָּנָא (ʿeddānā), from Akkadian 𒌓𒅗𒂵 (adānum); compare Hebrew עִדָּן ('idán), Arabic عِدَّان (ʕiddān) and doublet of ܘܲܥܕܵܐ (waˁdā, “appointed time”). Masculine in Classical Syriac and feminine in Assyrian Neo-Aramaic, probably originally masculine but analyzed as feminine because the feminine gender is often used for instantiations.
