[edit]From Aramaic עַד (ʿaḏ); compare cognate with Hebrew עַד ('ád), Akkadian 𒀀𒁲 (adi), Ugaritic 𐎓𐎄 (ʿd) and attested Arabic عَتَّى (ʕattā).
