Etymology
[edit]New form based on the third-person masculine singular present form ܝܼܠܹܗ (īlēh, “he/it is”). Therefore equivalent to being from a variant form of the verb ܗܵܘܹܐ (hāwē, “to be”) + ܠܗܘܿܢ (lhōn, “to them”) or ـܗܘܿܢ (hōn, “the third-person masculine plural suffixed pronoun”).
