Etymology

From ܝܗܘܕ (y(ə)hūḏ, Judea), from Hebrew יְהוּדָה (yəhûḏâ) + the feminine gentilic suffix ܝܬܐ- (-āytā(ʾ)). Compare Arabic يَهُودِيَّة (yahūdiyya) and Hebrew יְהוּדִיָּה (yəhûḏiyyâ).
