[edit]From ܝܼܗܘܼܕ݂ (īhūḏ, “Judea”), from Biblical Hebrew יְהוּדָה (yəhûḏâ) + -ܝܐ (-āyā, the attributive adjective ending); compare Arabic يَهُودِيّ (yahūdiyy) and Hebrew יְהוּדִי (yəhûḏî).
