Etymology 2
[edit]Probably derived from ܡܸܛܠ (miṭṭul, “for, because, because of”). Notice the presence of ṯ in the conjugated forms, reflective of ܡܸܛܠܵܬ݂ (miṭlāṯ), the base form for conjugations of the stated source term.
