[edit]From ܚܒܪܐ (ḥaḇrā, “companion”), from the root ܚ ܒ ܪ related to companionship + the abstract noun ending -ܘܬܐ (-ūṯā). Compare Hebrew חֲבֵרוּת (ḥăḇērûṯ).
