From Middle Persian *zum. Compare from Middle Persian *zumag Arabic زُمَّج (zummaj), Chagatai زمج (zummaj, steppe eagle, Aquila nipalensis) known from the Bāburnāma and metathetical Hindi जुमिज़ (jumiz, steppe eagle, Aquila nipalensis; eastern imperial eagle, Aquila heliaca).
