[edit]From Middle Persian *zum. Compare from Middle Persian *zumag Arabic زُمَّج (zummaj), Chagatai زمج (zummaj, “steppe eagle, Aquila nipalensis”) known from the Bāburnāma and metathetical Hindi जुमिज़ (jumiz, “steppe eagle, Aquila nipalensis; eastern imperial eagle, Aquila heliaca”).
