Etymology
[edit]From Aramaic דָּרְתָּא (dārtā, “atrium, court”); cognate to Arabic دَارَة (dāra). The sense of “halo” is a semantic loan from Akkadian 𒉣𒇬 (tarbāṣu), also loaned into Classical Syriac ܬܪܒܨܐ (ṭarbāṣā).
