[edit]Learned borrowing from Classical Syriac nominalized from the feminine form of the adjective ܐܪܫܟܝܐ (ʾārešḵāyā, “Arsacid”), from the proper noun ܐܪܫܟ (ʾaršaḵ, “Arsaces”), ultimately from Old Persian 𐎠𐎼𐏁𐎣 (Aršaka).
