[edit]From Aramaic אַרְבַּעֵסְרֶא (arəbaʿesrē). Equivalent to ܐܲܪܒܲܥ (arbaʿ, “four”) + ܥܸܣܲܪ (ʿisar, “ten”); compare Arabic أَرْبَعَ عَشْرَةَ (ʔarbaʕa ʕašrata) and Hebrew אַרְבַּע עֶשְׂרֵה (arbá' 'esré).
