- short prayer often used to wish protection and/or give thanks
Usage notes
[edit]- This is the masculine singular form; the feminine singular is ܐܲܠܵܗܵܐ ܢܵܛܸܪ ܠܵܟ݂ܝ (allāhā nāṭir lāḵ), and the plural is ܐܲܠܵܗܵܐ ܢܵܛܸܪ ܠܲܘܟ݂ܘܿܢ (allāhā nāṭir lawḵōn).
- Additional words may be added to this phrase such as ܘܝܵܠ̈ܕ݇ܘܿܟ݂ ― w-yālōḵ ― and your children and/or ܘܒܲܝܬܘܿܟ݂ ― w-baytōḵ ― and your household
- A common reply is ܘܢܵܛܸܪ ܠܘܿܟ݂ (w-nāṭir lōḵ, “And may He protect you.”)
