Inherited from Proto-Turkic *yorïnčga (clover); cognate with Azerbaijani yonca, Bashkir йонса (yonsa), Kazakh жоңышқа (joñyşqa), Kyrgyz жоңгучка (joŋgucka), Tatar йонча (yonça), Turkmen ýorunja and Uzbek yoʻngʻichqa.
