Borrowed from Classical Persian هَلَاک (halāk), borrowed from Arabic هَلَاك (halāk), from هَلَكَ (halaka), from Proto-Semitic *halak-. First attested in c. 1421 as Middle Hindi ہلاک (hlak /halāk/).[1]
