[edit]Inherited from Middle Hindi هانڐي (hanḍy) (c. 1621),[1] from Sanskrit हण्ड (haṇḍa).[2] Cognate with Malvi हाँड़ी (hā̃ṛī), Bengali হাঁড়ী (hā̃ṛī), Marathi हंडा (haṇḍā).
