Etymology
[edit]From Middle Persian TWRAmyš (gāw-mēš, literally “cow-sheep”); compare Persian گاو (gâv, “cow”) and میش (miš, “ewe”) for the constituents. Old Armenian գոմէշ (gomēš), Classical Syriac ܓܡܘܫܐ (gāmōšā) and Old Georgian კამბეჩი (ḳambeči) are borrowed from Middle Iranian.
