[edit]From کھنکنا (khanaknā, “to clink, jingle, clash, clatter”, verb), which is from Sanskrit खणखणायते (khaṇakhaṇāyate), from खणखणाय (khaṇakhaṇāya, “to utter or give out any peculiar sound, tick, tinkle, crack”, root), which is an onomatopoeia.
